Appliances & Tires
Berwyn Heights Public Works collects appliances and tires for a fee. Please fill out an appliance/ tire pickup request form and pay the applicable fee ($25 for appliances, $5 for tires). Cash, Check or credit card payment are accepted at Town Hall located at 5700 Berwyn Road or checks can be sent in the mail.
Bamboo
Berwyn Heights discourages the planting of bamboo, an invasive grass. Property owners who have bamboo in their yard are responsible for containing it within 2 feet of their property line. To dispose of bamboo, please bundle it and set it out separately from other yard waste on Monday (north of Pontiac Street) or Tuesday (south of Pontiac Street).
Electronics, Paints, Styrofoam
Berwyn Heights utilizes the City of Greenbelt's program for recycling old electronics, block Styrofoam and paint. Residents can drop off their recyclables from 9:00 am - 12 noon on the 4th Saturday of January, April, July and October at Greenbelt's Public Works yard, located at Buddy Attick parking lot, 555 Crescent Road. Used batteries and fluorescent light bulbs can be dropped off in special containers located at Town Hall.
Hazardous Waste
Berwyn Heights Public Works does not collect hazardous waste. The following items are considered hazardous: ammunition, acid car batteries, automotive fluids and fuels, cleaning agents, cooking oil, driveway sealers, fire extinguishers, fluorescent light bulbs, household batteries, insecticides, herbicides and fertilizers, mercury and other hazardous materials, oil-based paints, photographic chemicals, poisons, propane and helium tanks, solvents, varnishes and stains, swimming pool chemicals.
