En las últimas semanas, la actividad de control migratorio federal ha aumentado en nuestra región y comprendemos la preocupación que esto genera en muchos hogares.
El Municipio de Berwyn Heights reafirma que la función de nuestro Departamento de Policía es proteger la seguridad pública, no hacer cumplir la ley federal de inmigración. Nuestros oficiales no interrogan a los residentes sobre su estatus migratorio ni mantienen registros de dicho estatus. Cualquier persona debe sentirse segura al contactar a nuestro Departamento de Policía para reportar delitos, actividades peligrosas o emergencias.
Si las operaciones federales representan un riesgo para la seguridad de la comunidad, nuestros oficiales pueden intervenir para mantener a los transeúntes y a las personas involucradas a salvo, pero no participarán en arrestos por inmigración.
Estamos trabajando con el condado y el estado para garantizar que los residentes tengan acceso a información precisa y apoyo. Town of Berwyn Heights – Community Statement
In recent weeks, federal immigration enforcement activity has increased across our region, and we understand the concern this creates for many households.
The Town of Berwyn Heights reaffirms that our Police Department’s role is to protect public safety, not to enforce federal immigration law. Our officers do not question residents about immigration status, nor do they keep such records. Anyone should feel safe contacting our Police Department to report crime, unsafe activity, or emergencies.
If federal operations present risks to community safety, our officers may act to protect bystanders and ensure the dignity and safety of all individuals involved. However, they will not participate in immigration arrests.
