Tuesday 1/9 Weather Advisory

 

The National Weather Service (NWS) Baltimore/Washington DC office has issued a Flood Watch and a Wind Advisory for our area for this Tuesday. The Berwyn Heights area could see between 2-3 inches of rain, and Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 to 55 mph per the NWS.

Flood Watch- In effect from Tues January 9, 1:00 PM EST until January 10, 7:00 AM

Wind Advisory- In Effect from Tues January 9, 3 PM until January 10, 1:00 AM

Sandbag Locations: The Town has pallets of pre-packaged sandbags located at the Community Garden on 59th Ave, and to the read of the Town Center at 8603 57th Ave if residents need sandbags.

Report Power Outage & Downed Wires: Downed wires in the road? Call 911 and also contact Pepco at 202-872-3432. REPORT OUTAGES IMMEDIATELY- Pepco urges customers to report outages via the company's automated phone system. This automated system enables us to locate the cause of the outage more quickly and schedule repairs in an efficient and orderly manner. If power has been restored in the customer's neighborhood but not to their home, they should call and report the outage again; there could be a secondary problem in the neighborhood or even at the customer's service connection. Report power outages by calling 1-877-PEPCO-62 

Sewer Backup: In case of a sewer backup, call WSSC Water's 24-hour emergency number, 301-206-4002, or 1-800-634-8400. Their TTY number is 301-206-8345

“Turn Around-Don’t Drown” - It only takes a few inches of water to cause a vehicle to lose traction and stall; one foot will float most vehicles, and two feet will carry them away. Don’t drive through standing or moving water on the roadway; turn around and find another route.
