Sunday 07/02/2017 at 12:54 pm, ‘FIRE NON-ARSON’

Pfc. T. Hollowell responded to the 6100 block of Ruatan Street for a report of an active house fire. Victim noticed smoke on the rear deck of the dwelling. Victim indicated he had just finished using a butane grill 30 minutes’ prior.  A fire developed on the siding of the structure.  The Victim activated the fire alarm and evacuated from the residence. The Fire Department responded and suppressed the blaze which was fully engulfed.  An investigation was conducted by PGFD Arson investigations to determine cause.  The investigation will be handled by that unit under PGFD Case #17070200001014.  V1 indicated two cats were inside the dwelling at the time of the incident.

 

Sunday 07/02/2017 at 1:00 pm, ‘2ND DEGREE ASSUALT’

On Monday 07/03/2017 at 11:00 pm, Cpl. P. Roberson responded to the BHVFD for an assault complaint call. Once on the scene a volunteer fireman, a 20 Y/O, W/M reports that he was assaulted by a career P.G County Firefighter Captain the previous day while on the scene of a dispatched fire call. Units from several fire companies were at that location distinguishing a residential house fire. The victim reports that he was picking up a fire tool to open a hole in the roof when another firefighter grabbed the tool and pushed him to the ground landing on top of him. The victim reports that the suspect that assaulted him stated that the tool was not his to use. The victim was dressed in firefighter gear with breathing apparatus. Case is active and investigation continues.

 

Thursday 07/06/2017 at 11:21 pm, ‘ASSISTED ARMED CARJACKING’

Cpl. J. Ignowski received a lookout call for service from Greenbelt City in regards to a carjacking that just occurred, two black males, armed with a gun took a blue color 2005 Chevrolet Malibu car. Cpl. Ignowski saw a dark blue car traveling east at 5550 Branchville Road.  The driver saw the officer and fled at high speed with Cpl. Ignowski in pursuit. The Chevrolet driver committed numerous traffic violations, fled north on Cherrywood Lane into Greenbelt City, and collided with a parked car in the Union Square Apartment (Springhill Lake) complex.  The driver jumped from a car window and fled.  Cpl. Ignowski was assisted by Greenbelt City PD and PG PD.  Suspect was later apprehended by officers after a short foot- chase.

Cpl. J. Ignowski impounded a 2008 Jeep from the 8800 block of Edmonston Road. Driver of the vehicle was unlicensed.

 

Monday 07/10/2017 at 11:49 am, ‘DEATH INVESTIGATION’

Pfc. T. Hollowell responded to the 6100 block of Ruatan Street for a 59 Y/O, W/M found unresponsive in the living room on the couch by a relative.  The decedent was pronounced by the EMT. The investigation indicated the decedent was under medical care. There were no injuries on the body indicative of a fall.  PGPD/CID Homicide, and Forensic Investigator were notified and briefed.  There were no other indicators of foul play identified within the residence or decedent's body.  The custody of the body was released to the family and Gasch Funeral home was notified for pick up and transport.  No further investigation is contemplated at this time.

 

Monday 07/10/2017 at 6:23 pm, ‘FALSE ABDUCTION CALL’

Cpl. P. Roberson and Sgt. T Moroney responded to the 6001 Greenbelt Road Shell Gas Station for an abduction call.  On scene, a 23 Y/O, B/F reported that she got a ride from a subject in Baltimore who dropped her off in Greenbelt.  She further stated that she had sex with the subject as long as he drives her to where she wants to go.  However, the subject ran out of gas. Investigation further revealed that the alleged victim is under medication.

 

Thursday 07/13/2017 at 9:37 pm, ‘2nd DEGREE ASSAULT’

Cpl. J. Ignowski responded to the5800 Block of Ruatan Street for a report of a 17 Y/O, W/M who claims he was assaults by at least twelve B/M and B/F. Victim did not show any sign of injuries and told the officer he did not know why he was assaulted. Officer canvas the area and could not find any large group of B/M, or B/Fs.

 

Tuesday 07/18/2017 at 5:15 pm, ‘THEFT of Bicycle’

A 13 Y/O, H/J/F visited the BHPD and reported that her bicycle was stolen from the yard of her home. Stolen is a Schwinn 10 speed, 24 inch wheels, orange color, black handle bars, hand-brakes, no serial number available.

Cpl. S. Krouse responded to the T-Mobile on 62nd Avenue for a report of a W/M with tattoos came into the store and removed a demo phone watch from the displayed and fled into a gold Chevy Suburban. Suspect: W/M, 6’0”, with spider web on elbows, skull on arms.

 

Monday 07/24/2017 at 1:40 am, ‘BURGLARY’

Officers responded to the US Fuel on Greenbelt Road for a report of a burglary of the gas station.  Two suspects entered the store after hour and attempted to steal the ATM inside the store.  The suspects are also wanted in connection with several other burglaries of businesses in an attempt to steal ATM machines.

 

Monday 07/24/2017 at 3:45 pm, ‘THEFT from Auto’

Pfc. T. Hollowell responded to the 8500 block of 58th Avenue for a report of theft from a 2012 Honda. Victim’s book bag containing diapers and wipes for his children was hanging on a fence across the street of 5718 Berwyn Road.  The victim also found a bag containing his wheel locks laying on the grass adjacent to his driveway.  Nothing else was determined damaged or missing, and all previous mentioned items were recovered. The incident occurred between 10:00 pm – 12:00 am.
