Vision Zero Prince George's

Town Council Meeting Attendees Take the Pledge
Vision Zero Pledge Signing

Mayor Isler, Mayor Pro Tem Papanikolas, Council members, BHPD Chief Antolik, Detective Sergeant Unger and town residents signed the Vision Zero Prince George's Pledge at last night's Town Council Meeting.

Vision Zero Prince George’s goal is to eliminate traffic related deaths and serious injuries in our county by 2040.There are on average 42 traffic accidents per day in Prince George’s County and 100 deaths daily in the United States due to traffic collisions. With an increase in the number of pedestrians killed in collisions in the US, it has become even more important to promote roadway safety and to fully eradicate deaths and serious injuries caused by these incidents.

Prince George’s County plans on achieving this goal using the 6E’s Approach, which consists of education, emergency response, engineering, enforcement, evaluation and equity. We have a shared obligation to make our roadways safer through innovative design, by obeying rules of the road, eliminating distractions and being aware of our surroundings.

Vision Zero Prince George’s is a promise to residents and to all who visit and conduct business here, that they will be safe on our roadways. Moreover, it is a call to action, because even one loss of life or serious injury is unacceptable. We welcome to stop by the Town Office to sign the pledge to help eliminate these tragedies by 2040.
