County Council Seeking Board Appointments

The County Council is seeking appointments to the following boards. For consideration, please email councildistrict3@co.pg.md.us with a resume and a cover letter indicating the board you wish to be considered for.

MNCPPC Spending Affordability Committee

This committee reviews the spending affordability of the commission and makes recommendations on how MNCPPC should improve the budgetary process. The term is two years. Member Qualifications: Must have an experience on budgeting. financial planning. public finance or a related field. Resumes are requested by September 14th.

Parks and Recreation Blue Ribbon Workgroup

Makes recommendations to the Prince George’s County Council on improving access to certain programming, facilities, and opportunities as well as the potential costs, benefits, and advantages of transferring the responsibility for certain operations from the MNCPPC to a different entity. Membership Qualifications: public recreation operations; managing active and passive culture and leisure programs; recreational youth sports; public finance and fiscal affairs; government operations; performing and visual arts; quasi-public entities or a field of comparable relevance to delivering public recreation services. Resumes are requested by September 14th.

County Spending Affordability Committee

Makes recommendations on county affordability spending to guide fiscal policy and county budgets. Members serve for a term of two years. Member qualifications: must have knowledge in accounting; experience in budget; knowledge in fiscal management; knowledge in public finance; knowledge in fiscal planning or other related fields. Resumes are requested by September 14th.

Revenue Authority Committee

Should make rules and regulations for the government and use of all land and other property or parking facilities under its jurisdiction. Exercise all the powers and functions granted to it by State law and the Prince George's County Code regarding parking and parking facilities Should provide financial reports to the County Executive and County Council at the end of each fiscal year. Members serve for a total of 4 years. Member qualifications: possess ability; experience; and integrity. Resumes are requested by September 14th. 

Board of Appeals

This board meets twice a month in the evening and is responsible for hearing Administrative Appeals in the County including cases concerning residential or commercial properties. The board also hears and decides on administrative, or zoning appeals such as an appeal of a violation notice issued, and variances, which are a request to grant relief from the Zoning Regulations in order to obtain a building permit. The members of the BOA receive payment at a rate of Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars ($750.00) per month. Selected members are appointed for four years. Resumes are requested by September 15th.
