Statement of the Mayor - May 3rd Homicide

On the evening of May 3, 2017, a body of a man was found dead on Maryland National Park and Planning property within Berwyn Heights near Nevada Street.

This is a tragic situation and one of great concern.   

The Chief of Police for Berwyn Heights and his officers are assisting the Maryland-National Capital Park Police and the Prince George's County Police Homicide Unit.  The Homicide Unit is the lead department in investigating this homicide.    

It is not normal for such incidents to occur within Berwyn Heights, and I understand that you will be concerned, as am I.  Our police will continue to patrol the town and are committed to community policing, restoring your sense of security and enhancing your quality of life.
